February 8, 2022 - The Villages |

Our next stop was to check out The Villages, which is this huge retirement community in central Florida, northwest of Orlando. Thousands of houses, along with recreation centers, and golf courses, surround three "town centers". Each town center has a central square which features live entertainment nightly, surrounded by restaurants and stores. It's all very upscales. Residents zip around in their golf carts on cart paths. We stayed four nights in a hotel next to one of the town squares: Lake Sumpter Landing. The hotel turned out to be a mistake. It wasn't as upscale as I assumed and the rates were jacked up for peak season. I wish I would have found an AirBnB and stayed in one of the resident houses. Then we might have been able to play pickleball at the facilities also. The Villages also has a package deal that you can sign up for, but I didn't make reservations soon enough for that. |

I will say the town centers were very nice, with lots of nice restaurants. Here, Lynnette is on Lake Sumpter.

The evening live entertaiment in the Lake Sumpter Landing center square. It was free and the band was excellent.
As you can see, some people are dancing. It was a happening place.

We drove around The Villages quite a bit. This is the live entertainment at Spanish Springs town square. It was jammed.
Just east of The Villages is Love's Landing Aviation Community with grass runways. I wanted to check it out but it is a gated community so no joy on that.
